AdminHistoryThe Community Development Team was a relatively minor aspect of the Corporation's overall strategy from the department's inception in 1966, through until 1982. In these years the department consisted of a small team of five or six members who were only loosely affiliated to the department of Housing and Social Relations.

With the retirement of Leslie Higgs in late 1982, a new department head, David Kelly was appointed to Housing and Social Relations, and initiated a review of working practices. Steve Trivett, the then current Community Development Officer, argued for a greater involvement between housing and community development sections. This resulted in the formation of the housing and Community Development Department. From 1982-1990 senior staff of Housing and Community Development shared policy and management meetings.

The two department split in 1990, and Community Development operated, firstly alone, then as part of the marketing aspect of the Commercial Directorate, before returning to the Property Services Directorate as Communication Services.

There were at least three Community Development Officers during the lifetime of the Corporation, Ron Aldous (1966 - ?) William Orr(?- 1976?), Steve Trivett (1976?-1983), and Grahame Robertson (1983-1993).
