TitleHousehold surveys
Date1966-1981
TermDemographic statistics
AdminHistoryThe Planning Department used applications for housing in the New Town as the basis on which to tabulate and calculate its household surveys and analyses. In later years, when residents in private housing grew, it used information from the electoral register and the Lothian Health Board.
The date was used to project the plan's likely needs in coming years so that the Corporation could provide the necessary services.

The 1972 and 1977 survey were expanded to include questionnaires posted to tenants, and provide more indepth information on the town than the other profiles.
